Making Roads Motorcycle Friendly

Motorcyclists in Australia are 31% more likely to be killed on our roads than drivers of other vehicles and with the uptake of motorcycle licenses on the rise, so are the crash statistics.

In response, WALGA together with Main Roads WA produced an adaptation of the Victoria Roads publication “Making Roads Motorcycle Friendly”. This publication can be downloaded from this website by completing the download form.

The publication was developed in consultation with the Western Australian Motorcycle and Scooter Safety Advisory Group and The Motorcycle Riders Association and includes information on why motorcyclists are at risk, road design and construction considerations, roadsides, maintenance and reinstatement considerations and keeping road works safe.
