Rejuvenated Committee Ready to Tackle Road Safety

The City of Melville recently revamped its Road Safety and TravelSmart Committee.

The Committee now incorporates a working group tasked with implementing local activities to improve road safety and increase the use of alternative forms of transport such as walking, cycling and public transport.

The working group is finalising an action plan that will address topics such as distraction, drink driving, school road safety, vulnerable road users, speeding, child car restraints and compliance with road rules.

Activities currently underway or being considered include, child car restraint checking, a mobile phone challenge, a 'Blow 0.00 and Win' competition, public transport magical mystery tours, displays at events as well as social media campaigns highlighting road safety and TravelSmart key messages.
