Kalbarri Road Trauma Prevention Day
Posted on: Tuesday, 20 June 2017 at 12:00:00 AM
The Road Trauma Prevention Day is an interactive road safety education and awareness event for Kalbarri Senior High School students. The day also doubles as a life-like training session for police, St John Ambulance, local fire service volunteers and the medical centre.
The day started at the police station with an educational discussion. A vehicle crash scenario involving removal of an acting student crash victim followed, with a session at the medical centre rounding out the interactive part of the day. Students were able to assist the local nurse in charge with some of the crash victim’s vital observations following a video link with a doctor in Perth. Finally, the RAC and the Paraplegic-Quadriplegic Association of WA coordinated an informative talk by a road crash survivor to help reinforce the key messages of the day.
Student feedback from the day was positive, with many students commenting on the value of the road safety messages.
