When you play darts, you are aiming towards zero to win. But did you know that when you are a skipper you are also aiming Towards Zero? By being the designated driver or skipper for your friends you are also contributing towards the aspirational goal of zero road fatalities in Western Australia.

This is the message of encouragement the new Union Jack dartboard at the Hotel Scottalian in Bindoon is sending to designated drivers who volunteer to drive their friends who are drinking.

The board has the message “Aim for less than .05” printed on it to remind drivers to not drink and drive, and to plan ahead so that they can get themselves and their friends to their destinations safely after visiting the hotel.

The Office of Road Safety provided the dartboard and it was presented to Lynne Armenti, Proprietor of the Hotel Scottalian in Bindoon by Regional Road Safety Advisor Cliff Simpson and Shire of Chittering Economic Development Officer Karen Dore.

The Scottalian has been participating in the Shire of Chittering’s Skipper Program and 2013-14 road safety campaign which encourages all motorists to take responsibility for their own safety and the safety of others while driving on our roads.

The Program asks drivers to plan ahead before drinking alcohol.

Email Economic Development Officer Karen Dore to find out more about the Shire’s Skipper Program.

Licensed venues in Western Australia looking to participate in the Skipper Program can contact the Office of Road Safety on 9323 4688.
