Child Car Restraint Information Session in Northam

Avon Valley Toyota hosted a “Ladies Night” on Tuesday, 7 March for local ladies to learn more about vehicle maintenance issues.

With five stations covering tyre tread and pressure, changing wheels, a bumper to bumper check, and fuel system and air conditioning maintenance, Road Safety Advisor Cliff Simpson also attended to provide a presentation about the correct installation of car child restraints.

Principal dealer of Avon Valley Toyota, Leonie Knipe, said the evening event was designed to increase knowledge of vehicle safety and maintenance matters for women.

"The car child restraint information was really important, especially with people often moving restraints between family vehicles. There is potential for incorrect installation, so this was a very useful session,” she said.

There are several Type 1 Child Car Restraint (CCR) Fitters in the Avon Valley, and later this year WALGA’s RoadWise will offer a Type 1 CCR Fitters course in the Wheatbelt North region to further expand the network of local fitters.
