The RoadWise Program has developed a new road safety resource to help Local Governments and members of the community road safety network promote safe roads and roadsides in the community.

The new Safe Roads and Roadsides Resource Kit can be accessed from the members’ page of the RoadWise website.

Safe Rods and Roadside Resource Kit

Why have we developed the new resource?

Safe roads and roadsides is one of the cornerstones of Towards Zero, WA’sroad safety strategy 2008 - 2020. It is also one of the more complex parts of the road safety strategy, so the new kit aims to breaks the topic down and help Local Governments promote it within local communities.

The Kit is being rolled out to align with the Towards Zero Road Safety Planner 2015 (that great road safety wall planner everyone loves) which features safe roads and roadsides as a campaign focus for the month of May.

In support of the focus on safe roads and roadsides during May, the WALGA RoadWise Program will work with Local Governments and members of the community road safety network to raise awareness of the safe roads and roadsides cornerstone within the wider community.

The RoadWise Program will use this opportunity to promote the Safe Roads and Roadsides Resource Kit which was initially developed to assist Local Governments in the Great Southern region to promote safe roads and roadsides in the community.

The Kit, which includes supporting templates such as quizzes, media releases, activities, posters and presentations, has been designed to allow information to be tailored to suit the needs of individual Local Governments, RoadWise or other road safety committees/groups. It is intended to support and enhance existing Local Government activities being implemented as part of the safe roads and roadsides cornerstone of Towards Zero.

It is important to note that whilst safe roads and roadsides will be a focus of activities and awareness raising during May 2015, the tools and resources available can be used at any time throughout the year to align with local action plans and priorities.
