Local Government Road Safety Awards 2010

The Western Australian Local Government Association and the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australia (WA Division) would like to congratulate the Local Governments that received 2010 Local Government Road Safety Awards.

The awards seek to acknowledge the outstanding contributions and achievements by Local Government in the area of road safety. The awards provided an opportunity to showcase innovation and best practice in the delivery of projects that contribute to the objectives of Towards Zero, the WA Road Safety Strategy 2008-2020, through a safe system approach.

The 2010 Local Government Road Safety Award winners are: 
Safe Roads and Roadsides Category 
(Rural) Shire of Dardanup for an upgrade to Waterloo Road 
(Metro) City of Joondalup for an upgrade of Connolly Drive, Kinross

Safe Travel Speeds Category
(Rural) Shire of Denmark for the Safer Industry Speeds for the Community Project
(Metro) Town of Victoria Park for a speed zone change on Albany Highway

Safe Road Use Category
(Rural) Shire of Dardanup for the Ferguson Valley Shared Road Use Project
(Metro) City of Joondalup and the City of Stirling for the Community Safe Speed Promise

The Local Government Road Safety Awards were presented at the 2010 Road and Transport Forum on the 13 October 2010.
