Community Road Safety Grants Program
The Government of Western Australia through the Road Safety Council has made funds available from the Road Trauma Trust Fund to assist in the development and implementation of road safety projects. Road safety projects need to foster widespread community support and participation throughout the State to prevent road crashes causing serious injury and death. Grants are available for projects that focus on the Safe System approach to align with Towards Zero the WA Road Safety Strategy 2008-2020.
The 'Safe System' views the road transport system holistically by addressing the interaction between the road user, the road and the road side, travel speed and the vehicle. Based on this Safe System approach, the Towards Zero strategy aims to improve road safety through four cornerstones: Safe Road Use; Safe Roads and Roadsides; Safe Speeds and Safe Vehicles. In addition, a series of Safe System foundation initiatives will support the implementation process.
