Funded Grants Round 2 July 2006

1. Pilbara Regional Road Safety Coordinating Committee - Pilbara Road Safety Signage and Education - $7,190

This project involves the establishment of road safety signage at specific locations along main roads throughout the Pilbara region which will highlight the issue of fatigue - "Are you tired? Take a break". Locations of signs and rest areas will be promoted on ABC North West Radio and educational material will be disseminated through local roadhouses.

2. City of Joondalup - Community Manual: Safe Streets - $8,000

This City of Joondalup strategy aims to encourage the community and motorists to take active responsibility to reduce speed on local roads through the development of community groups that foster community participation and ownership of speed issues in the community and to reduce the social acceptability of speeding. The manual provides information for community members on how to start a group.

This project will complement the City's "Slow Down and Reap Rewards" project.

3. Shire of Gingin - Transportable Radar Speed Display Trailer with Variable Message Display - $16,080

The Gingin RoadWise Committee has identified speed as a priority issue in the Shire. The trailer wil be used in conjunction with local area targeted enforcement signs, enforcement and promotion in local media and through school newspetters.
