Funded Grants Round 4 September 2008

Implementation of Albany Roadwise Committee Action Plan 2009 - Albany RoadWise Committee - $7,840.00

The Albany RoadWise Committee has a strong track record of successfully addressing local road safety issues.  The Committee has a solid membership which includes representatives from police, Main Roads WA, Health, DPI, City of Albany, RoadWise, Southern Roads Services, Lions Community Care, SDERA and local community members. The Albany RoadWise Committee has developed an action plan and calendar of activities for the 2009 calendar year.  The plan and calendar were developed over a period of several months in 2008 and involved the input and feedback of all committee members.  The plan covers all aspects of the safe systems approach to road safety – safe roads and roadsides, safe vehicles, safe speeds and safe road users.  Full details can be found in the attached action plan and calendar.   This application requests funding for specific activities from the action plan which will assist in the implementation of the entire plan. The funding requested will allow the Committee to further the promotion of safe vehicles to the community through a media and advocacy campaign.  In addition, the Committee will produce road safety display kits which will allow for the sharing of the road safety message amongst the community.  The kits will consist of a pull-up banner, brochures and other relevant materials, and will be available for loan by workplaces, clubs, community groups and other organisations.
