Shire of Plantagenet, Targeting Fatigued & Distracted Drivers in the Great Southern - $8,100.00
An integrated project to target driver distraction and fatigue in the Great Southern region, combining advertising, enforcement and community education. The focus is on Albany Highway as the major North-South route in the region, and the site of many serious crashes and will build on the work of RoadWise committees and community groups in the region, including: Shire of Plantagenet RoadWise committee advocacy regarding day time running lights, Albany RoadWise committee Easter fatigue road stop and Kojonup driver reviver. The project will target local drivers as well as visitors to the region.

Northam RoadWise Committee, Northam RoadWise Committee 2012 Strategic Plan - $21,840.00
The committee has developed a calendar year of events of the next twelve months to deliver strategies in the community which target and raise awareness of strategies in the community which target and raise awareness of the four cornerstones of the Towards Zero state government road safety strategy. These strategies are linked strategically through the 2012 calendar year to coincide with risk times for road users. The committee will target community events to raise the profile of road safety in the Shire. All age groups in the shire of Northam will be reached, to ensure that ll road users are educated about safer road practices.

Easter Awareness Rising Campaign includes: 
Blessing of the roads ceremony incorporated into church services
Pre Easter brake media release submission to the Avon Valley Advocate and Gazette focus on vehicles checks and service
News paper colour in competition for different age groups in the Avon Valley Advocate based in the four corner stones. 
Stall in the Northam Boulevard including distribute of travel packs for drivers with road safety literature and activities for keeping kids occupied in the car.
Road Safety Week Awareness Campaign and Activities include: 
Radio advertisements on Radio West and HotFM stations covering Road Safety Week Activities
Two page spread in the Avon Valley Advocate and Gazette (free newspaper)
Red cross blood donation bus to launch the week 
A safe vehicle workshop for young adults
Car dealership promotion of the Five Star Safety Rating 
Local tyre fitters and mechanics shop will offer free tyre, battery checks as well as discounts
Local fleet managers will be provided with policy templates
Pamphlet drop through mail: safer vehicles, safer road user behaviour
School bumper sticker comp (eg "Slow down in Northam")
Crash car displays
Sam trailer displayed in the community 
Development of new Safe System banners by youth for display on town approaches and in the main street
Shopping centre display incorporating a four corner stone quiz for adults and children, SDERA kids’ activities and information about road improvement being conducted in the Shire of Northam 
Story book competition with high schools 
PCYC conducts bicycle safety event (subject to SGIO funding)

Investigate the possibility of implementing an ongoing Skippers Program with the Avon Valley Football Association.

Car park issue at Wundowie Primary School
Collaborate with the Shire of Northam to improve the traffic congestion at Wundowie Primary School during peak times before and after school to improve the children’s road user safety
