A few years ago, the Jurien Bay Lions passed their original Driver Reviver caravan over to the Dalwallinu Lions to revive drivers on the Great Northern Highway. The Dalwallinu Lions received a Government of Western Australia Road Safety Community Grant to refurbish the caravan and purchase a shade gazebo.
They now operate at the White Wells rest stop, just north of Wubin. The Lions take their own caravans and camp out themselves, offering this valuable service for long weekends.
Robyn Bryant of Dalwallinu Lions said: "We recently had the best Driver Reviver weekend we’ve had for the last couple of years with around 30 vehicles stopping, including two trucks."
"One was actually a Toll truck (Toll being the major sponsor of the Program) and overall we served around 52 travellers with tea or coffee and biscuits."
"Those who stopped were very appreciative of the break and some people even remembered stopping on their last holiday travels.” Robyn said.
Driver Reviver is an important community initiative that aims to reduce fatigue related crashes by encouraging travellers to take regular breaks in their journey by visiting an operating site.
