Juniors Celebrate Children’s Week While Seniors Take to the Road

The Carnarvon RoadWise Committee has been busy working with local juniors and seniors to raise awareness of road safety issues and learn more about what issues these groups encounter.

Children's Week
During Children’s Week, Committee members participated in the Civic Centre Wool Shed stalls to promote road safety to local children and their parents. This complemented the Committee’s 'Road Safety Sticker Design Competition' which was run through Children’s Week.

The winner of the competition will receive a prize pack and have their design made into a sticker which will be used by Committee members to further promote road safety in the community.

Seniors Week
Local seniors took to the road on a bus tour during Seniors Week to show Committee members what road safety issues they face on a day to day basis. The tour included a drive around town and the plantations, followed by a morning tea at River Gums Café which provided an opportunity for more in depth road safety discussions.

At the conclusion of the tour, the 44 seniors were presented with a Road Safety Survival Kit to take away. Issues raised on the day will be taken to the next Carnarvon RoadWise Committee meeting.

Thank you to 777 Pharmacy and Carnarvon Water Corporation for donations for the survival kits and special thanks to Carnarvon Bus Charters for donating a bus and driver for the morning.
