The Grove Library Reminds the Community: Distracted Drivers are Dangerous

The Grove Library is reminding community members that using a mobile phone while driving is dangerous, not only for the driver but for others on the road.

The Library, shared by the Shire of Peppermint Grove, Towns of Cottesloe and Mosman Park has set up a display in the foyer, providing information to library patrons about the risks of being distracted while driving.

To prevent being distracted when driving, place your phone on silent or switch it off and put it away out of reach before you start your journey.

Distraction facts:

  • In WA in 2016, 26 people died on the road as a result of inattention or distracted drivers.1?
  • The risk of being involved in a crash increases 6.1 times if you are texting and 12.2 times if you are dialling a hand held mobile phone.2
