Moora Police recently joined forces with representatives from the Shire of Moora, Moora Rotary and WALGA's RoadWise, to coordinate a 'blow zero' campaign in the Moora police district.
When stopped by police carrying out random breath testing in the local area, drivers who registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.00 were given a coupon to enter a weekly draw for a gift voucher to a local store.
The 'blow zero' campaign started on Monday, 14 December and finished on Friday, 18 January, with three overall winners announced at the Australia Day breakfast held on 26 January. There were more than 200 entries in the draw.
Full list of winners include:
- 21 December - Brian Watson and Norman Attenborough
- 28 December - Rob Lennox and Will Butcher
- 4 January - Phyllis Doust and Zoe Joyce
- 11 January - Bruno Brown and Annalis Topham
- 18 January - Denise O’Hern and Wes Porter
- 26 January - Ron Manning, Maregaret Dines and Phyllis Doust
Thanks to the Moora Post Office for helping to collect the coupons and to the Shire of Moora, Moora Rotary, and WALGA's RoadWise for their support and sponsorship of this initiative.
