City of Canning Opens First Smart Street
Posted on: Thursday, 23 January 2020 at 12:00:00 AM
As part of the City of Canning’s 10 year City Centre Regeneration Program, the City has opened Cecil Avenue in Cannington as a 'smart street'.
Cecil Avenue now provides a safer, more enjoyable pedestrian experience with wider footpaths, extra trees, improved pedestrian access, a dedicated bus lane and new traffic lights.
The street is equipped with specialised infrastructure that will allow future technologies to be incorporated over time. This infrastructure will support traffic and environmental monitoring systems, CCTV, provision for charging of electric vehicles, high speed Wi-Fi and energy saving lighting.
This work is part of the City of Canning’s ongoing work to provide a safe, healthy and sustainable transport system.
