Mystery Tour of Life Wins Award

Mystery Tour of Life Wins Award The Bridgetown-Greenbushes RoadWise Committee was recognised with the Shire of Bridgetown-Greenbushes Australia Day Active Citizenship Award for their annual 'Mystery Tour of Life' event, aimed at preventing road trauma in novice drivers.

The RoadWise Committee, consisting of members of the WA Police Force, St John Ambulance, Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Country Women’s Association and Local Government Elected Members and officers, has been coordinating this event for the past eighteen years.

The Mystery Tour of Life is aimed at year 10 students at the district high school and takes place after they have completed the School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA) Keys4Life program to work towards getting their learners permit.

While the evidence shows that the use of one-off events and shock tactics may not be effective in the reduction of road trauma compared to the impact of the introduction of the graduated driver licensing system, the Mystery Tour of Life project is an example of local road safety stakeholders working together to support novice drivers.

Congratulations to the Committee for working together to help prevent road trauma in the Bridgetown-Greenbushes community.
