'Tuned Up for What?' in the City of Stirling

The City of Stirling’s Road Safety Officer partnered with the City’s Youth Development Officer during June to hold a three-hour youth road safety workshop called ‘Tuned up for What?’ (TUFW).

Originally planned for March with 50 registered participants, the event was rescheduled due to COVID-19 restrictions. The scaled back session covered three main areas:

  • driver development
  • vehicle maintenance, and
  • vehicle purchasing.

Importantly, participants were provided with safe vehicle tools and resources, including how to use the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) or Used Car Safety Ratings to help purchase the safest car possible, and information about vehicle safety features which can help avoid crashes and protect vehicle occupants in the event of a crash.

Based on positive feedback, the City plans to increase participant capacity, hold further TUFW workshops for youth and organise a CaLD specific workshop for older drivers.
