To mark 50 years of seatbelt legislation in Western Australia, the Shire of Northam used their variable message board at the entry to the town on Mitchell Avenue to promote seatbelt use.
The legislation, passed in 1971, mandated the use of seatbelts as a vehicle occupant protection measure.
