Shire of Exmouth

The Shire of Exmouth is situated 1,270kms north of Perth. It has a population of approximately 2,487 and is 6,261sqkms in size. Of the 460kms of roads, more than 65% are unsealed.

Tourists are prevalent, lured by the fishing industry as well as marine wildlife including whale sharks, humpback whales and turtles.

The Shire of Exmouth also has important defence and oil and gas industries.

Road safety resources available in Exmouth

Community groups, local business and sporting clubs are among the organisations eligible to borrow road safety resources available in Exmouth.

As part of the ongoing contribution to improving road safety outcomes for Gascoyne communities, the RoadWise Program continues to work with individuals and groups in the Shire of Exmouth to raise awareness of road safety in the community.

Resources are available to assist in promoting road safety issues including the dangers of drink driving, driving whilst fatigued, the benefits of wearing seat belts and the impact of speed on crash risk and severity.

These resources can be used for promotion at local events, to educate members of sporting clubs and as practical enhancements at business toolbox meetings.
