Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitter Course

Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitter Training - Katanning

Western Australia is leading the way in child car safety, having achieved national accreditation for a course designed to ensure the correct installation of child car restraints (52862WA).

Forming part of the Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitting Service funded by the Road Safety Council and created by WALGA's RoadWise, the course is expected to increase the number of qualified Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitters across Western Australia.

The Road Safety Commission has worked closely with various stakeholders including Kidsafe WA, WALGA RoadWise and the Red Cross to develop two units of competency covering installation and advice on correct child restraint use to achieve the national accreditation and ensure longevity for the course.

Course Aims

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge and skills to competently check and fit child car restraints in vehicles and to be part of a statewide network of qualified and approved Type 1 Child Car Restraint Fitters.

The course covers theory and practical components to enable participants to run their own checking and fitting stations for their clients and community.

This is a nationally accredited course funded by the Road Trauma Trust Account and supported by the Road Safety Council.
