Road Safety Around Schools

The Road Safety Around Schools Guidelines have been developed to provide information, tools and advice to assist Local Governments and school communities to identify and address traffic management and road safety issues around schools.

The Guidelines are intended to be practical and include common problems experienced around schools, the issues involved, and suggestions for addressing them. The Guidelines also include a list of who to contact about resolving specific issues.

Two editions of the Guidelines have been developed – a Local Government edition and a Schools edition. For a copy of either resource visit the Resources section of this website.

Updates: The Guidelines contain information about child car restraints which has since changed. For current information about selecting and using child car restraints, please refer to the child car restraints section of this website.
