Main Roads WA, in partnership with WALGA, is delivering the Local Government Road Safety Vanguards program, which provides Local Governments with practical information for reducing trauma on their road networks.

The program invites Local Government officers and Elected Members to gain knowledge of contemporary approaches to road safety, and how to use this information to bring about change in their communities.

A three-day workshop will be held from Tuesday, 30 April to Thursday, 2 May at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.

What is this program about?

It looks at best practice on a range of topics including applying systems thinking, innovations and advancements in vehicle and infrastructure safety.

Who can become a Vanguard?

Participants will form an alumni of ‘vanguards’ for ongoing collaboration to enhance the road safety leadership network for Local Governments across the state.

What is the cost?

The program is free to Local Government employees and Elected Members. In addition to the technical content, participants are provided with safe system information and opportunities to interact with their peers to enhance leadership skills.

Has the event been held previously?

In 2023 two programs were delivered at the University of Western Australia Club. Participants have been overwhelmingly supportive of its continuation so that other Local Government representatives can have similar opportunities.
