What's in a slogan?

Forget about giant pumpkins, tastiest sponges and the jumping dog competition – road safety slogans was THE event at this year’s Kununurra Agricultural Show.

Main Roads WA (Kimberley) and the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley RoadWise Committee worked together on a novel idea to allow show-goers to come up with a catchy road safety slogan which could be used in future campaigns.

The competition was also used to gauge opinions on the road safety issues affecting locals.

Humour has long been recognised as an effective tool to tackle serious issues and the entries from the slogan promotion definitely reinforced this notion.

All entries were displayed on the giant Variable Message Board at the showgrounds.

Some catchy slogans submitted included 'Rest! Not Rest in Peace', 'Your family is forever, your speeding is not' and 'It takes skill to prevent road kill'.
