Safe Speed Improvements in Bindoon

The 60km/hr speed limit along the Great Northern Highway in Bindoon's townsite has recently been extended an additional 200 metres, following safety concerns from local residents.

There were community concerns about the posted speed limit of 90km/hr being too high for residents exiting the Bindoon Vista rural sub-division from Hibbertia Way onto the busy highway.

Residents are mostly pleased with the new speed limit reduction, which was strongly supported by the Local Member, Shane Love MLA and the Shire of Chittering, and approved by Main Roads WA.

Whilst there were concerns from some motorists that the change would add extra time to their journey, this change only adds approximately four seconds to the journey through the area.

The change in speed limit from 90km/hr to 60km/hr also has the potential to reduce the severity of any right-angle crashes at the intersection of the Hibbertia Way and the highway.

The Great Northern Highway bisects the town-site of Bindoon in the Shire of Chittering.
