Join us for UN Road Safety Week – 4-10 May 2015

Each year, the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC) coordinates a road safety week, focusing on a global road safety priority. The WALGA RoadWise Program supports and promotes this initiative through the WA community road safety network.

This year the road safety week runs from 4-10 May 2015 and focuses on children and road safety. Every day more than 500 children die in road crashes around the world with thousands more seriously injured. The #SaveKidsLives campaign seeks to highlight the plight of children on the world’s roads.

If you or members of your community are planning to organise local road safety events targeting children’s road safety during May, why not think about promoting them as part of the UNRSC week?

If you would like to get involved, think about how you could promote children’s road safety in your community. You could organise child car restraint fitting and checking stations during that week, promote road safety messages through your local school, encourage your school to deliver School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA) road safety programs or organise other suitable local events to target children in your community.

Be sure to use # SaveKidsLives in all online, social and other media promotions and register your events on the UNRSC website at http://www.who.int/roadsafety/week/2015/events/event_calendar/en/.
