RoadWise Committees and police working together to reduce drink driving in Gosnells and Armadale

RoadWise Committee members in the Cities of Gosnells and Armadale joined forces with local police during October to target drink driving on local roads.

In a joint venture, members of the Armadale and Gosnells RoadWise Committees attended a WA Police random breath testing operation.

While police tested drivers and checked licences and vehicle registrations, committee members handed out educational information to drivers who tested positive to alcohol, though within legal limits. This was to remind them of the dangers of drinking and driving.

A total of 234 drivers who blew 0.00, took up the offer to enter a competition to win a $100 gift voucher. The winner will be drawn by members of the Gosnells RoadWise Committee in the coming weeks.

With alcohol a contributing factor in more than 22% of road fatalities1, the Gosnells and Armadale RoadWise Committees will continue to work with WA Police and other stakeholders to raise awareness and educate the broader community on the dangers of drink driving and ways to reduce the incidence of drink driving.
