New Austroads Guide

Additions to the Guide include the fundamentals of safety barrier systems, and new guidance on the design and installation of other road safety devices such as frangible poles, high-profile kerbs and audio tactile lane marking. Other updated sections include treatment options for roadside hazards and their effectiveness, and the process for designing a safety barrier installation.

The accompanying webinars will be presented by authors Dr Rod Troutbeck and Richard Fanning and are free, but registrations are essential:

• Changes and New Elements of the Guide to Road Design Part 6, Tuesday, 26 July, provides information on the changes to the Guide, an overview of the new information included and the background research supporting the new concepts and processes.
• Using the New Edition of the Guide to Road Design Part 6, Tuesday, 2 August, will focus on the process to design the installation of a safety barrier, as outlined in section 6 of the Guide.
