Active Transport Modelling Presentation

Published on Monday, 15 June 2026 at 10:45:38 AM

Local Governments are being invited to attend an information session on a new modelling approach to estimate active transport flow volumes across the greater Perth network.

Main Roads WA has been working with DQ Flows to better understand network-level movement patterns and vulnerable road user travel demand across greater Perth. As part of this work, pedestrian and cyclist models have been developed to estimate active transport flow volumes across the greater Perth network.

For Local Governments, these modelling outputs could support:

  • Identification of high-demand walking and cycling corridors
  • Improved planning and prioritisation of local active transport infrastructure
  • Evidence-based road safety analysis, particularly for vulnerable road users
  • Better integration of active transport considerations into local planning and policy

DQ Flow are hosting an information session to provide an overview of the modelling approach, highlight key outputs, and demonstrate how the tools can be applied within a local government context.

Session Objectives

  • Introduce the DQ Flows framework and modelling approach
  • Present the pedestrian and cyclist models developed for Perth
  • Demonstrate how the outputs can support road safety analysis and validation
  • Explore practical applications and future opportunities for Local Governments
