Turn It Off, Bag It Up! Will You Take the Pledge?

Carnarvon RoadWise Committee was at the Twilight Markets last month to raise awareness about the dangers of driver distraction, particularly using a mobile phone whilst driving.
Visitors to the Committee’s stall were given a chance to test their knowledge with a driver distraction quiz. Two $50 fuel vouchers were presented as quizz prizes, with a visitor from Brisbane and a Carnarvon local the recipients.
Drivers were encouraged to take the “Turn it off and bag it up pledge”, resulting in 40 people signing the pledge and committing to turn off their phones and bag them up before driving.
Each person who signed the pledge was given a mobile phone pouch.
The 'Horns and Hooves on the Highway' campaign was also a focus, helping raise awareness of looking out for livestock on and near the road.
