Local Governments in the South West were busy promoting child car restraints in the lead up to Easter and over the school holiday break with support from WALGA's RoadWise.
The Shire of Dardanup offered free Type 1 child car restraint fitting and checking on 8 May at the Eaton Library as part of its ongoing road safety events program. The Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup also offered a free checking and fitting event at the Apple Fun Park on 18 April. Free Type 1 child car restraint fitting and checking was also offered in the Shire of Harvey on 16 April and a discounted fitting service was offered in the Shire of Capel on 4 May.
Child car restraints and children’s road safety were the themes of the City of Bunbury RoadWise stall at the annual GrandFamilies Day at the Bunbury Wildlife Park on 17 April. More than 2000 people attended the event from around the greater Bunbury region and the stall was very popular, promoting children’s road safety with Belt Up stress toys, “Please Slow Down, Consider Our Kids” bin stickers and information on SmartSteps from School Drug Education and Road Aware (SDERA).
