Free Vehicle Safety Checks to the Community

Posted on: Monday, 17 June 2019 at 12:00:00 AM

The free child car restraint and car safety checking station was a success with the Mirrabooka community.

The City of Stirling RoadWise Working Group partnered with the City of Swan RoadWise Committee and the Department of Transport to provide free vehicle safety and child car restraint checks.

The day saw 25 vehicle checks and 31 child car restraint inspections conducted.

The most common issues found in the vehicle checks were bald tyres, low fluid levels and non-functioning lights. Child car restraint checks found a range of poorly fitted child car restraints which would have provided reduced protection in the event of a crash.

The day provided an opportunity to talk to the community in the Mirrabooka area and provide road safety information along with the checks. Ensuring vehicles are in good working order and child car restraints are fitted correctly to
vehicles and suitable for the child’s age and size is vital to reducing the risks of injury in the event of a crash.
