The Shire of Northam’s latest addition to the #avonlocalsdrivingchange campaign is targeting safe vehicles, crash avoidance, occupant protection and travel speeds around road works.
The Shire of Northam RoadWise Committee responded to comments from the community and the Shire’s workers about the perceived speeds at which drivers travel, and the proximity to Shire traffic controllers and road workers.
In response, Shire of Northam Road Crew Leading Hand, Colin McPherson was recruited for a new photo-voice as part of the #avonlocalsdrivingchange series, which has been shared through social media in the local newspaper.
To promote 5-star cars, local road safety champion, Leonie Knipe (Dealer Principal of Avon Valley Toyota) and her son Ridley joined forces for a safe vehicles photo-voice as part of the #avonlocalsdrivingchange series.
The Wheatbelt North region has an aging vehicle fleet, and it is common for parents to teach their kids to drive in the farm ute, which may not always the safest option. When considering a used car for a young driver, visit www.howsafeisyourfirstcar.com.au and search for the car you have in mind. See how it compares to others and make the safest choice.
